Is the editor really free?
Yes. Generate, layer, paint, mask, bake, and preview without paying. The 3D view runs at full quality; on the free plan the flat 2D texture view is capped at 512px and doesn't zoom in, so it can't stand in for an export. All it takes is a free account — that's what keeps your projects and libraries with you across devices. You pay to take the files out and to lift the AI limits.
What are AI credits?
Credits are what AI generation spends — nothing else in the editor touches them. What an op costs tracks what it costs us to run, so the cheap ones stay cheap: a decal sheet in Paint, a weathering mask, or a brush tip is 1 credit; a seamless texture is 4; a full PBR material is 3 (6 at 2K); a full-mesh Auto-Texture is 6, or 8 when it re-runs a view to fix its quality; and generating a 3D model is the most expensive at 4–16 credits depending on which generator you pick, because 3D generation costs us several times what an image does. The editor itself — painting, layering, masking, baking, and live preview — is always free. A free account gets a one-time trial pool; Pro and Max refresh a larger pool every month.
What if I run out of AI credits?
On Pro or Max your allowance refreshes on the first of the month (UTC), and you can move up a tier at any time for a bigger one — Max is 150 a month, and billed yearly it is the cheapest AI per credit we sell. On the free plan the trial pool is one-time, so the way to keep generating is a plan. Everything in the editor that isn't AI generation — painting, layering, masking, baking, sculpting, live preview — keeps working at full quality with no credits at all. Perpetual licenses are the exception: a license covers export rather than AI, so it has no allowance to refresh, and license holders can buy credit packs whenever they need AI.
Can I use AI with a perpetual license?
Yes — AI credits are sold separately. The license covers export, not AI, so it comes with no monthly allowance. Choose a one-time pack when you need credits. They never expire and run on our premium AI models.
What's the difference between standard and premium AI models?
Auto-Texture, AI logos, product shots, and Studio's AI stills and decals each run on one of two models. The free plan gets our standard models, which are good for trying an idea; Pro and Max get our premium models, which give higher-quality results — more detail, more consistent textures across a whole model, and edits that stay truer to what you asked for. The other generators — 3D models, materials, textures, masks and brushes — run the same models on every plan, though 2K materials and the two highest-fidelity 3D generators are Pro and Max only. A generation costs the same number of credits either way, and one paid for from a top-up pack runs on the premium models too.
What can I generate with AI?
From a text prompt: whole 3D models (textured, UV-unwrapped meshes that drop straight into the editor to paint), complete tiling PBR materials (real base color, normal, roughness, metallic, and height maps), seamless textures, grayscale weathering masks, alpha brush tips, and decals — plus full-mesh Auto-Texture. Every plan can use the generators. Pro and Max unlock 2K material generation, the two highest-fidelity 3D generators, premium models for Auto-Texture, and a larger monthly credit pool.
How much does generating a 3D model cost?
It depends on the generator — the picker shows the cost next to each one before you spend anything. They run from 4–16 credits, and the two highest-fidelity generators are Pro and Max only. Every model arrives UV-unwrapped with its PBR maps as editable layers, and is saved to your Models library.
What is the Community library?
A shared library of AI generations made by free-plan users. On the free plan, the materials, textures, decals, weathering masks, and 3D models you generate are added to it anonymously — you always keep your own copy, your name is never shown, and anything inappropriate can be reported and removed. Pro and Max generations are private and never published.
What can a free account export?
Production export is a paid feature. A free account can generate, paint, sculpt, bake and save, and Studio can save a 512px watermarked render preview. Exporting PBR map sets, models, or clean full-resolution renders requires Pro, Max, Team, or a perpetual licence. The perpetual licence unlocks 4K watermark-free export in supported apps without a subscription; there is no per-project or single-export purchase.
What happens to my projects if I cancel?
Nothing is deleted or locked. Your local projects stay on your device, and your cloud projects stay yours to open. If they take up more than the free plan's 100 MB, new cloud saves pause until you're back under it or you resubscribe.
Will my files ever stop opening if I stop paying?
No. The editor is free, so your projects always open — there's no version treadmill where files saved in a newer release lock you out of an older one, and no subscription lapse that turns the app off. Paying gates export and AI credits, never access to your own work.
Do you train AI on my work?
Never. Your projects, textures, models, and prompts are not used to train AI models — ours or anyone else's. AI generation sends your prompt to our AI providers only to produce your result, under API terms that don't permit training on it. (On the free plan, AI generations are shared to the Community library, so the prompt is also screened by a moderation model and used to title the shared item — visible sharing you can see and report, not model training.)
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Monthly plans can be canceled at any time and stay active through the period you paid for. Annual plans are billed once a year at the discounted rate.
